Wallpaper Installation

1. Choose the right glue

  • It’s important to use an adhesive that is specifically designed for non-woven wallpaper, rather than one made for vinyl. Vinyl wallpapers require a different type of adhesive, which isn’t suitable for non-woven materials. As all of our wallpapers are non-woven, we strongly advise double-checking that your adhesive is intended for non-woven wallpaper to ensure the best possible result.

2. Prepare the Wall

  • Move any furniture and cover the floor to protect it.
  • Remove old wallpaper and fill any holes or cracks. Sand the surface until smooth.
  • Wash the wall with mild soap and water, then let it dry completely.
  • If the wall is glossy or very absorbent, apply a primer or wall sealer for best results.

3. Measure and Mark

  • Choose your starting point near a door or corner. Start from left to right.
  • Use a level or plumb line to draw a straight vertical guide line on the wall. This ensures the first strip is perfectly straight.

4. Cut and Arrange Wallpaper

  • Lay out your wallpaper strips in the correct order.
  • Make sure the pattern flows across the panels.
  • Cut each strip to the height of the wall, leaving a few extra centimeters at the top and bottom for trimming.

5. Apply Adhesive (For Non-Woven Wallpaper)

  • Use paste/glue suitable for non-woven wallpaper.
  • Apply the paste directly to the wall using a roller or brush.
  • Work in sections, covering about one or two strip widths at a time.

6. Hang the First Strip

  • Place the first strip along your guide line, starting at the top with a slight overhang.
  • Smooth the wallpaper from the center outward using a smoothing brush or plastic smoother to remove air bubbles.

7. Add the Remaining Strips

  • Align the next strip edge to edge, without overlapping.
  • Match the pattern carefully and press the seams firmly.
  • Wipe away any excess paste with a clean, damp sponge.

8. Trim Excess

  • Once the strip is secure, trim the excess wallpaper at the top and bottom using a sharp knife and a straight edge.
  • Repeat with each panel.

9. Final Touches

  • Smooth over the entire wall once more to ensure good adhesion.
  • Let the wallpaper dry with good airflow.

10. Around Outlets and Switches

  • Turn off the electricity at the main switch.
  • Loosen or remove outlet or switch covers.
  • Carefully cut the wallpaper around the opening and smooth the edges under the cover.
  • Reattach the cover once the wallpaper is in place.
